Creative Flower Photography w/ John Klingel

  • Cape Cod Art Center 3480 Route 6A Barnstable, Ma. United States (map)

Location: Workshop will be held off-site in Eastham. Address will be emailed by instructor

This workshop will cover a wide variety of techniques designed to capture the beautiful colors, textures, lines, and curves of flowers and will cover in-camera as well as post-processing techniques. In-camera discussion and demos will include selective focus, focus stacking, multiple exposures, close-up and macro photos, camera movement, shooting through materials, slow shutter speeds, and other techniques. Post-processing demos will include focus stacking, texture blending, creating painterly effects, creating blur and movement with software, processing multiple exposures, and other techniques. Both in-camera and post-processing will include coverage of how to create painterly flower photographs. We’ll also spend time on composition, using a Lensbaby, extension tubes, lenses, and other equipment, and creating portable backgrounds for in-garden photography. I’ll be using and discussing various software packages and plug-ins including Lightroom, Photoshop, NIK Color Efex, Topaz Impressions, Texture Effects and others. This workshop will be entirely in the classroom but participants should bring camera equipment as there may be time to photograph flowers in my garden.
